Who is Detective Inspector Stratton?

Detective Inspector Terry Stratton heads up the newly formed Homicide and Cold Case Unit, the Commissioner’s panacea for a surge in violent crime and the resulting political and media pressure. He and his team, rejected as misfits by other divisions, investigate suspicious deaths wherever they occur in Tasmania. Their investigations take them to the island’s most stunning locations, steeped in history and natural beauty. But each has a killer, driven by their own twisted motivations, lurking in the shadows.

In the team’s first major investigation, a body is discovered, tied to a tree. As suspects are eliminated and leads fizzle out, a second gruesome death occurs in one of Hobart’s picturesque parks. Stratton is convinced the murders are connected and that an arcane ritual is being played out in the shadow of kunanyi, the majestic mountain, looming over the city.

Even as he leads the investigation, Stratton struggles with his own undiagnosed dyslexia, his son’s difficulties at school, and the failure of his marriage. The only thing that keeps him sane is his passion for triathlon.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - There are way too many murder mystery novels out there, and the majority have predicatable twists and plot lines, and the investigators are flat and one-sided. But not DI Stratton and his crew!
